Standards and Metrology stopped missions that do not bear the certificate

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has announced the start of mandatory registration of products on the SABER platform starting next month for the following regulations: Gulf Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electric Devices, Gulf Technical Regulations for Children’s Games and Technical Regulations for Lubricating Oils.

The Commission pointed out that conformity assessment bodies must cease issuing COC certificates from 15-03-2019 and any non-Saber certificates will be discontinued as of 01-04-2019, while the consignments accompanied by COC certificates issued before 15-03- 2019 only.

SABER is an electronic platform that enables the local trader and factory to issue electronic consignment certificates for consumer goods, whether imported or manufactured locally, for entry into the Saudi market. It aims to protect establishments and consumers from counterfeit products and products, reduce time to release products and speed up procedures. Issuance of certificates of conformity of goods, which have been linked with the General Authority of Customs, the Standards and Metrology and Quality Authority, the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, and conformity assessment bodies.
