What are the Services of the Saudi FDA?

The Saudi FDA plays a critical role in safeguarding public health by regulating various industries, including food, drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics.

Established in 2003, SFDA ensures that products meet stringent safety and quality standards. It also facilitates market access through the issuance of Certificates of Conformity (CoCs), supporting both importers and exporters. These services are essential for maintaining high public health standards and fostering trust in the Saudi market.

What is the Saudi FDA?

The Saudi FDA, also known as the Saudi Food and Drugs Authority (SFDA), is an independent body established in 2003 in Saudi Arabia. The Main responsibility of Saudi FDA is to protect the public health by ensuring the safety of Food and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, food supply, and cosmetics.

The Saudi FDA always seek to advance public health by helping to accelerate innovations that make medical products more effective, safer, and more affordable. Moreover, FDA Saudi Arabia enables manufacturers, exporters, and importers to trade food and drug products based on accurate, scientific information in order to maintain and enhance the individual’s health.

The Food and Drug Administration Saudi Arabia (SFDA) plays a significant role in the manufacturing industry. It gives great attention to fostering the development of medical and food products to respond to deliberate and naturally emerging public health threats.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (Saudi FDA) issues two important certificates of conformity (COCS) to ensure product safety and compliance with Saudi regulations:

  • SFDA Food Certificate of Conformity (CoC): This certificate verifies that imported food products meet the regulatory standards of safety, quality, and labelling requirements set by the SFDA. It helps prevent the distribution of substandard or harmful food items in the Saudi market.

  • SFDA Cosmetics Certificate of Conformity (CoC): This certification ensures that cosmetics and personal care products comply with SFDA regulations, including ingredient safety, packaging, and labelling standards, to safeguard consumer health.

Both certificates are crucial for businesses aiming to import and sell food and cosmetics in Saudi Arabia, as they facilitate regulatory compliance and market access.
