New Regulations for Importers: SASO Mandates Declaration for Shipment Certificates

SASO Mandates Declaration for Shipment Certificates
In a significant move to bolster product compliance, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has announced that, effective April 17, 2025, all importers will need to provide a declaration approved by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources when requesting shipment certificates through the SABER electronic platform.
This new requirement is set to enhance adherence to technical and regulatory standards for imported goods, according to a recent SASO circular. The organization emphasizes that the declaration will be a vital component of the technical file required for the issuance of certificates.
To ensure compliance, SASO will continue the practice of randomly sampling shipment certificates issued through the system to confirm the presence of the necessary declarations, especially for newly added products and those previously addressed in earlier circulars.
Among the products affected by this regulation are cardboard, Formica sheets, baby diapers, plastic pipes, and clay pipes. The authority urges all importers to comply with these new instructions to facilitate smooth customs procedures and prevent potential delays or shipment rejections.
As the deadline approaches, importers are advised to prepare the required documentation in advance to ensure compliance and avoid disruptions in their supply chains.
