Saudi Arabia Enhances Economic Operator Program to Importers and Exporters

In a significant move to bolster its trade environment, the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority of Saudi Arabia has announced updates to the Saudi Authorized Economic Operator Program. This initiative, aimed at supporting importers and exporters, introduces a range of new benefits and incentives, developed in collaboration with 14 government agencies.
 
The revamped program offers a comprehensive set of advantages classified into three main categories for registered commercial entities, alongside a dedicated category for logistics service providers, including customs brokers and freight forwarders. This expansion is designed to enhance logistics operations and streamline the flow of trade.
 
Since its inception in 2018, the Saudi Authorized Economic Operator Program has welcomed over 550 commercial establishments, aligning with a global framework recognized in 80 countries. The program is strategically aimed at granting competitive advantages in line with international trade standards set by the World Customs Organization.
 
A key feature of the initiative is the establishment of mutual recognition agreements, which are vital for fostering international cooperation. These agreements are expected to significantly ease global trade processes while providing additional incentives to participants.
 
The newly enhanced program reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing its logistics sector objectives. By simplifying and expediting trade procedures, the initiative aims to improve competitiveness, boost supply chain efficiency, and ensure that commercial operations can thrive with flexibility and continuity as they reach global markets, adhering to best practices and international standards.
